Game Overview
"Cockroach Poker" is a bluffing card game that originated from Germany, designed for 2-6 players. The game requires a deck of 64 cards with 8 different motifs in 8 colors.
Objective
The primary objective of the game is for players to palm off as many cards as possible onto other players. This is achieved by making claims about the creature depicted on a card, and the player who misjudges the other ends up with the card. The first player who either accumulates four of the same card or has no cards left in their hand loses the game.
Setup
For 2-3 players, deal out the 64 cards face-down to each player. For 4-6 players, deal out the cards evenly among all players. In a 2-player game, remove 2 cards from the deck before dealing.
How to Play
The player going first (Marc, for example) picks a card from their hand, places it face-down on the table, and slides it towards another player (Anna, in this case). Simultaneously, they make a claim about the creature depicted on the card, such as "Cockroach."
Anna has two options:
Accept the Card: Anna can choose to accept the card. Before picking it up, she must loudly state "True" or "False." If she believes Marc's statement is true, she takes the card. If she doubts it, she also takes the card, but Marc has to take it if she's wrong.
Pass the Card: If Anna chooses not to accept the card, she can pass it on to another player who hasn't seen it yet. Before passing, she can either confirm Marc's statement (e.g., "Cockroach") or make a new claim (e.g., "Stink Bug"). The next player then has the same options as Anna, and the card can continue to be passed until it has been seen by every player. The last player to receive the card can only accept it and must judge whether the claim made by the player who passed it is true or false.
The player who receives the card places it face-up on the table in front of them, and the next round begins with that player offering a card from their hand.
Scoring and End of Game
The game ends in one of two ways:
Four-of-a-Kind: If a player accumulates four cards with the same creature, they have lost the game. The other players share in the victory.
No Cards Remaining: If a player runs out of cards and it's their turn to offer a card, they have lost the game. All other players share the victory.
In a 2-player game, the game ends when a player accumulates five cards with the same creature or runs out of cards.
Common Variants
For a 2-player game, 9 cards are removed from the deck before dealing, and passing cards is not an option.

Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
Overconfidence: Players should not be too quick to believe or doubt claims, as it can lead to unnecessary card losses.
Ignoring Passing Option: New players might overlook the passing option, which can be a useful strategy to gain information about the card.
Rushing: Taking the time to think and make informed decisions is crucial to winning the game.
FAQ
Why are there 64 cards in the deck instead of 52 like a standard deck?: The additional cards provide more variety and make it less likely for players to know the creature on a card when it's their turn to make a claim.
Can I make a claim about a creature that's not on the card?: No, each card only has one creature depicted on it, and making a false claim results in the loss of the card.
Is there a strategy for determining when to pass a card?: Passing a card can be a good strategy when you're unsure about the creature on the card or when you want to gain information from other players. However, there's no one-size-fits-all strategy, and it's important to adapt to the game situation.
