Game Overview

Objective

The objective of the game varies based on the role each player assumes. The Sheriff aims to eliminate all Outlaws and the Renegade to protect law and order. Outlaws seek to kill the Sheriff, while Deputies help and protect the Sheriff. The Renegade wants to become the new Sheriff by being the last character in play.

Setup

1. Remove bullet tokens from their frames before the first game.
2. Each player takes a playing board and a role card equal to the number of players (Sheriff, Renegade, Outlaws, and Deputies).
3. Shuffle the character cards and deal one face-up to each player. Players announce their character's name and read their ability. Players take as many bullets as shown on their character, with the Sheriff having one additional bullet (if their character card shows three bullets, they have four; if they have four bullets, they have five).
4. Put the remaining roles, boards, and character cards back in the box.
5. Shuffle the playing cards and deal an equal number of cards to each player, face down. Put the remaining cards face down in the middle of the table as a draw pile, leaving room for the discard pile.

How to Play

The game is played in turns, in clockwise order. Each player's turn is divided into three phases:

1. Draw two cards: Draw the top two cards from the draw pile. If the draw pile is empty, shuffle the discard pile to create a new playing deck.

2. Play any number of cards: Players may use cards to help themselves or hurt others, trying to eliminate them. Players can play any number of cards, but there are three limitations:

   • Only one BANG! card can be played per turn.
   • Only one copy of any card with the same name can be in play.
   • Only one weapon can be in play.

3. Discard excess cards: Once the second phase is over, players discard any cards exceeding their hand-size limit, which is equal to the number of bullets (life points) they currently have.

Scoring and End of Game

The game ends when one of the following conditions is met:

1. The Sheriff is killed. If the Renegade is the only one alive, they win. Otherwise, the Outlaws win.
2. All the Outlaws and the Renegade are killed. The Sheriff and his Deputies win.

Common Variants

For beginners, it's recommended to remove all cards with the symbol of a book before starting the game.
